Sports Recreation  Commission Suspends ZINA President Leticia Chipandu with Immediate Effect.

In a significant development in Zimbabwean sports administration, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has suspended Leticia Chipandu as President of the Zimbabwe Netball Association (ZINA) effective immediately.

The suspension follows a thorough investigation into the challenges plaguing ZINA's administration and structures.

According to a statement released by the SRC, the suspension will remain in effect until the next ZINA elections are held.

The decision is grounded in Section 30(1)(c)(i) as read with Section 19(a), (b), and (c) and paragraph 23 of the second schedule of the Sports and Recreation Act (Chapter 25:15).

Chipandu, who has been at the helm of ZINA since 2002 and was last re-elected unopposed in 2022, faced a petition for her ouster launched in 2024.

The SRC's action is seen as a measure to address the prevailing challenges within the association and potentially pave the way for reforms in ZINA's administration and structures.

The development has significant implications for Zimbabwean netball, and stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the upcoming elections and the future direction of the sport in the country.
